About this MacBook
Introduced in 2015, the 12-inch Retina MacBook brought a compact, fanless design to Apple's laptop range. Its lightweight aluminium body, Retina display and Force Touch trackpad made portability central to the design.
The Early 2015 model combines a dual-core Intel Core M processor with 8GB of onboard memory and 256GB or 512GB of flash storage. Its 12-inch Retina display has a 2304 × 1440 resolution and a single USB-C port handles charging, data transfer and video output.
A worn battery can mean much shorter battery life, unexpected shutdowns or a MacBook that needs to stay connected to power. Replacing a failing battery can help restore reliable portable use.
Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac to check the model and year. You can also find the model number on the underside of the MacBook.
Battery problems
If the MacBook will not charge at all, the problem may also involve the charger, USB-C or MagSafe port, or another internal component.
Before your repair
Back up anything important before bringing your MacBook in for repair.
Let the technician know about charging problems, unexpected shutdowns or previous repairs.
If the battery looks swollen, stop using and charging the MacBook and arrange an inspection.
