What Customers Say About iPhone 5s Repairs Service

Quick and good quality service - I liked the iSmash Kingston shop, where my phone screen was replaced in under 30 min. The team working there is very helpful and knowledgeable. I was recommended this place by a friend, and now will be recommending it myself to everyone who needs a quick and quality repair.

Alesja Bojarchuk

Fast, efficient service with great end result. Much better than sending off the phone and waiting days to collect it. Would recommend and use again myself if required in the future.

Priti Patel

Excellent Service - I had had my cracked screen replaced by another company, who had damaged the front camera flex whilst doing so. But iSmash were fantastic - identified and remedied the repair quickly and efficiently. I will definitely use iSmash again.

Emile Greenhalgh

Big help and great service - After being able to book a screen replacment in the Fleet Street branch the same day as my phone was broken, I received fantastic service and treatment at iSmash. The repair was perfectly kept to the 30 minute promise and extra reinforcements added to my screen appear well applied and definitely help protect my screen now.

Alex Goss

2 minute fix, no charge - Something from the charge cable got stuck right inside the charge port meaning iPad wouldn't charge. Despite being busy, they fixed it there and then with no charge. Excellent.

FAQs About the iPhone 5s Repairs

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked around iPhone 5s Repairs - select your issue and see what we can do for you.

My iPhone 5s has water damage...what should I do?

Firstly, here’s what you shouldn’t do, despite popular opinion! Don’t put your iPhone 5s in rice, in the airing cupboard or on a radiator. The rice doesn’t do anything to help, and the dry heat from the other two options will cause corrosion.

What you should do is retrieve your phone from the washing up bowl or toilet, turn it off and contact us immediately. The quicker you get your water damaged iPhone 5s to us, the more chance there is of a repair.

My iPhone 5s camera isn’t working properly - the photos are blurry and I need to take a selfie.

Check there’s nothing blocking the lens. (This might sound simple but it happens!) Use a lint-free cloth to clean it. If your photos are still blurry, resort to IT Support 101 and turn your iPhone 5s off and on again.

Next, check for and install any software updates. If that doesn’t fix the issue, you should consider a factory reset (making sure you have all your content backed up first).

If, after all that, your iPhone 5s camera still isn’t working, get in touch with us here at iSmash and we’ll diagnose and look into resolving the issue for you the same day.

The home button on my iPhone 5s isn’t working - can you fix this?

If the home button on your iPhone 5s is not working there are a few things you can do to try and fix it yourself. (Or you could give us a call...but let’s see if we can save you a few pennies!) Sometimes, months of dust and grime build-up can cause the iPhone 5s home button to become unresponsive and block the push mechanism. A simple clean can do the trick - try pressing the button in and cleaning around it.

If that doesn’t work you can try recalibrating the button - launch one of the pre-installed apps on the phone, then press and hold the power button so ‘slide to power off’ appears. Now press and hold the unresponsive iPhone 5s home button until ‘slide to power off’ disappears and the application closes.

If you still have no luck, try a factory reset which may fix the issue. If the problem persists, an iPhone 5s home button replacement or repair may be necessary, so contact us and we’ll be happy to look into it for you.

My iPhone 5s isn’t holding its charge - do I need a battery replacement?

Not necessarily. There can be several reasons why your device isn’t charging and it might not be due to iPhone 5s battery problems at all. Here are a few things to check: Shine a torch into the charging port on your phone - if there’s any dirt or grime blocking it, this could be causing the issue. Use a toothbrush (or something that won’t conduct electricity!) to clear it out.

Try a different charging cable - the issue may be here and not with your iPhone 5s at all.

If your phone is dead, do a hard reset - hold down both the power and the home button for 30 seconds - this may reboot the phone.

It may be that if none of the above works, that an iPhone 5s battery replacement is required. Give us a call here at iSmash and we’ll diagnose the problem for you.

Why is the sound not working on my iPhone 5s?

Please don’t hate us for saying this but...is the volume turned up? If it is, and there’s still no sound, do not fear. We have some hints and tips to help you break the silence. First, ensure there is nothing plugged into the headset jack. Next, check the speaker and dock ports are clean - use a toothbrush to get any gunk out.

If you still have no sound on your iPhone 5s, make sure Bluetooth is turned off, restart the device, and check you have the latest version of iOS. Still no luck? Let us have a look at it for you and we’ll see if we can restore some audio to your life.

My touchscreen has stopped working - do I need an iPhone 5s screen replacement?

In order to diagnose this and understand if you need an iPhone screen repair or replacement, we need to determine if the issue is software or hardware related. If it’s software, you may be able to take some action. First - is it an intermittent problem that only occurs when a certain app is in use? Try uninstalling that app.

As with other common issues, a hard reset is sometimes a good way to clear the phone and restore it to its former glory. Although you shouldn’t do this regularly, it can be a way to fix problems. Do a hard reset by holding down the power and home buttons for 30 seconds.

Still no response? It may be a problem with the hardware. If you’ve recently dropped your phone, this could be to blame even if there is no visible damage. It might be that a repair to the circuitry behind the screen, or an iPhone 5s replacement screen is necessary and iSmash will be able to help.

Help! I have some iPhone 5s problems but I’m not sure exactly what the fault is.

We realise that not all issues with your phone are easy to categorise, and sometimes you may have iPhone 5s problems that are more general. Perhaps it keeps freezing, or your iPhone 5s is not turning on. That’s why iSmash offer a device fault diagnostic service - get in touch and we’ll get an answer to you within 24-48 hours of receiving your iPhone 5s.

My iPhone 5s charger port isn’t working and I am sad about this.

If your iPhone 5s is not charging and you’ve tried everything in the FAQ above about your device not holding its charge, it may be that you need an iPhone 5s charging port replacement. However, before we get to that point, let’s see if there are any fixes.

First, like a belly button, you’ll be surprised at how much lint can get caught up in the charger port. Using something that won’t mess with the electrics, like a toothpick, gently remove the offending fluff. This may be all you need to fix the issue. If that doesn’t work, try leaving it connected for 30 minutes. As a last resort, try restarting your device while it’s connected to power. If your iPhone 5s still isn’t charging and you’re still stumped, let us take a look at it for you.

My iPhone 5s isn’t connecting to WiFi.

If your iPhone 5s is not connecting to WiFi, there are lots of things you can do to try and fix it. Besides the usual tricks like ‘off and on again’, you can try setting up the connection up again under settings > WiFi: forget the connection and set up a new one. You can also reset the network settings, try turning off WiFi Assist or change the router channel on your router if you are using your home network.

My iPhone 5s keeps losing signal.

iPhone 5s signal problems can be caused by your service provider, so don’t automatically assume there’s an issue with your device. Check if they have any known problems first. Another factor that can result in no service on iPhone 5s is the way you hold your phone - if it is gripped in a fashion that means your hands cover both sides of the metal band, you are potentially covering the antenna which impacts the signal. An external case can sometimes reduce the occurrence of iPhone 5s signal problems.

What can I do if my iPhone 5s power button is not working?

There is a possible workaround if the button has stopped working or stuck - under ‘accessibility settings’ there is an option for assistive touch, giving you an onscreen button which performs the same functionality. Replacing your iPhone 5s’s power button if it is not working is possible but we wouldn’t recommend attempting this yourself - best to get in touch with the experts at iSmash and we can diagnose the issue and replace the part if required.

My iPhone 5s rear glass panels are cracked. Will this cause me any problems?

While the phone may continue to function, a cracked housing may result in entry of dirt and debris to your iPhone 5s which could cause more expensive problems in the long term. An iPhone 5s rear glass replacement may be the best way to nip this in the bud before it gets any worse.
