FAQs About the iPhone 5c Repairs
Here are some of the most common questions we get asked around iPhone 5c Repairs - select your issue and see what we can do for you.
My mobile won't power on. Do I need a new battery for my iPhone 5c?
Firstly, let's eliminate some potential issues. It may be that your iPhone 5c has a flat battery and simply needs charging (we've seen this before!). Try plugging it in to the mains and leaving it to charge - if the battery is totally drained you may not see anything on screen for several minutes. If you see the red battery icon flash 3 times then disappear, this means the iPhone 5c is not receiving power.
Next, try pressing the sleep button and the home button at the same time, and hold for 10 seconds. This can force a restart. If that hasn't helped, you can put the device into recovery mode. Beware - this erases all data so only use as a last resort. (If you don't want to do this, contact iSmash and we may be able to assist.)
To enter recovery mode, plug a USB cable into your computer (but not your iPhone 5c). Hold down the home button and plug the device in. When you see the 'connect to iTunes' screen, release the button. iSmash offer full diagnosis of iPhone 5c battery issues so if your device is still dead, contact us to book an appointment now.
I've dropped my mobile in water. Can liquid damage to my iPhone 5c be fixed?
Water damage is a contentious issue with many supposed remedies like putting your device in bags of rice. If you've dropped your iPhone 5c in water, there is still hope but basmati is not the answer. The most important thing is turn it off. Now. Don't be tempted to see if it's still working. Turn it off. The problem is that leaving it on can cause short circuits.
Turn it off and leave it off. Take off the case if it has one and put your iPhone 5c somewhere at room temperature for 48 hours. Next, try turning it on. If it works, great - but be aware that corrosion can still cause issues in the weeks or months to come.
If it doesn't turn on, contact iSmash to book an appointment - our qualified technicians will be able to conduct a full diagnosis of all components of your water damaged iPhone 5c while you wait and will see if they can restore your device.
