Clumsiest names in the UK revealed!
By : Mat Pitman /
Do you know a Ben with a broken phone or a Sarah with a smashed screen? Well it might be down to more than just bad luck. New data revealed by us here at iSmash uncovers the clumsy truth behind the UK’s increasing need for phone repair, ranking the population’s clumsiest people based on their first names.
Data collected from over 25,000 smartphone repairs across Britain in the last three months shows that Bens and Sarahs are among the most likely people to drop, damage or destroy their handsets. The data also demonstrates men to be the clumsier sex, suffering more mobile-related blunders than women - men account for 76% of the repairs analysed, and make up 80% of the top 20 clumsiest names.
After Sarah, the women most likely to be found with big cracks in their screens are Emmas, Lauras, Charlottes and Lucys. At the other end of the scale, if you’re a Rebecca or Anna, it’s more likely that your phone is in safe hands, with those names sitting at the bottom of the list along with Jonathan and Ian. Julian Shovlin, founder and Managing Director of iSmash, added: "We carried out the research to see if there was any correlation between names and phone breakages, with the results suggesting that certain names have less luck than others. Damaging your phone is always very inconvenient and if your name is on the list, I would suggest buying a case to help save you from future breakages!"
The study follows recent figures released by iSmash which ranked the clumsiest regions in the UK, collated from 160,000 online searches, where the North was officially coined the most precarious place to own a phone, with breakages more likely.
