Job Summary

The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for determining the strategic direction of the supply chain function for the organisation. The primary focus of the role is to plan and implement all activities relating to the timely and cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning, distribution and quality control of a wide range of goods. The Supply Chain Manager will recognise when changing business environments, both internal and external, impact the supply chain function, and they will always take appropriate steps to maintain the department’s effectiveness and efficiency.

As the Head of Supply Chain you will be required to manage people, processes and systems. With help of the department managers, you would be responsible to manage the 3 core departments which make up the supply chain function – purchasing, quality control and warehousing. You would ensure productivity targets are met and implement and maintain administration systems. You will be meeting the requests of the retail stores in order to make the process run as efficiently as possible.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a supply chain strategy that supports the company performance objectives
  • Managing the warehouse, quality control and purchasing departments
  • Managing inventory availability across both stores and central warehouse
  • Managing ongoing relationships with all suppliers in collaboration with the commercial department
  • Leading overseas supplier visits and initiatives
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt of goods from up to 30 suppliers and distribution to over 50 stores
  • Working with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that there is always sufficient stock availability on all top selling product lines
  • Companywide stock management, planning and buying, working alongside the stock forecaster and purchasing manager
  • Managing cost effective logistics and warehouse planning methods
  • Manage QC department and QC standards alongside the QC manager
  • Keeping stock control systems up to date and ensuring inventory accuracy
  • Keeping inventory database up to date and ensuring inventory accuracy, adding and amending products when required with help from purchasing team

Other responsibilities

  • Having a clear understanding of the company’s policies and vision and how the supply chain contributes to these
  • Producing regular reports and statistics on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Stock planning and buying in conjunction with the analyst/planner
  • Driving gross profit margin through buying, selection, negotiation
  • Participate in various projects to innovate products and/or meet market demands

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft office – especially Excel
  • 5 years of Supply Chain/Warehouse Management/Stock purchasing experience
  • Quantitative and analytical skills, excellent documentation and oral communication skillsli>
  • Self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in iSmash’s business strategies
  • Problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly numerate
